Shrooms!

So it all started about three months ago in march.  I got a glass jar and filled it with layers that mushrooms like. (They're very picky to their environment.)  For the nutrition layer I got some compost from the compost pile, since mushrooms eat from the dirt, and can't get stuff from the sunlight like green plants.  I got a few Agaricus Bisporus mushrooms from a salad after dinner.  Yes, I did eat my salad.  Agaricus Bisporus is the kind of mushroom that you probably see on pizza or think of an average mushroom.  Anyway, I bury the mushroom stuff up and keep them in in their picky little environment they like. (Think of the ideal environment a monster under your bed would like, and you're probably pretty close.)

Humble Beginnings:

Anyway, as the story goes, nothing comes up for weeks.  I kinda give up on it, and some other plant starts growing.  So hey, I'll try and grow that.  The leaves pop out after a while and it appeared to be either some melon or squash.  I figure it's probably cantaloupe.
Then today, we find a mushroom growing in the dirt.  I was rather shocked, since nothing showed up for nearly three months, and the mushrooms were from the grocery store (the ones that are picked prematurely), which are kind of hard to grow from as I've heard.  I figured it wouldn't work in the first place.  So I actually did it, ha.

Awwww, it's so cute! (ok nevermind it isn't really.)

It's aliiiiiiiiive! (hangin' out with the melon thing.)
The end.
